We oppose seclusion use at facility for children

Home / We oppose seclusion use at facility for children

When Virginia’s P&A learned that a residential provider for children with developmental disabilities was attempting to bypass important human rights protections for one of its residents, the agency swiftly submitted public comment to the State Human Rights Committee urging members to deny the provider’s request for a variance to regulations prohibiting abusive seclusion practices. Subsequent to the P&A’s public comment, St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children has rescinded its request for a variance to Virginia’s Human Rights Regulations. Read the P&A’s letter of concern here.
