There are many individuals with chronic and terminally ill consumers who are in State Mental Health Institutions, rather than medical facilities. In this report, we highlight the dangers of this situation and also urge better reporting practices from State Hospitals. Poor reporting limits the ability of watchdog organizations, including dLCV, the Office of the State Inspector General, and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) itself to fully monitor conditions at State Hospitals.
