Welcome to “Our View of the Legislature” for 2024. With these regular highlights, the disAbility Law Center of Virginia will share with you our view of the activities in the General Assembly and let you know how specific proposals might impact the lives of Virginians with disabilities and their friends, family, and supporters.
The 2024 legislative session in Virginia will begin Wednesday, January 10th at noon. Under our state constitution, this session should last for 60 days and will involve the adoption of a new state budget. We expect the session to end on Saturday, March 9th.
Already, dozens of bills have been proposed, many of which could impact the lives of people with disabilities. The issues range from voting rights to mental health services, and the protection of children with disabilities who are in foster care. Would you like to learn more about them? Join us on Tuesday, January 9th at noon for our annual legislative preview, by registering here.
You can also check in with us — we post regular updates on developments in the legislature on our website, on Facebook, and Twitter.
