The 2015 session is scheduled to end on Saturday, February 28 at noon. Legislators seems to be well on track for a timely close of the session.
An interesting bill has been approved by both houses, allowing for the use of marijuana for limited medical reasons. HB 1445 was patroned by Delegate Albo. It states that, in a criminal prosecution for possession of cannabidiol oil or THC-A, it is a viable defense if the individual has a doctor’s certification that it the substance is to treat intractable epilepsy. The bill allows a doctor of medicine or of osteopathy to prescribe the marijuana substance. The Senate added an emergency clause to the bill, making it effective as soon as the bill is signed by the Governor.
